Dan Seymour grew up in Alabama where he earned an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Justice Studies and Social Science. Later he would earn a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  Dan earned his Eagle Scout rank with the Boy Scouts of America.

Dan Seymour started his law enforcement career as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff where he attended a basic law enforcement training academy in 1992 and received his Alabama POST certification.  Later, he was hired as a full-time police officer and moved to Tennessee receiving his Tennessee POST certification.  During his over thirty-year career, he has obtained a wide range of experience and progressive advancement while working at several agencies along the way.  He has served as a patrol officer, field training officer, patrol shift supervisor, patrol division supervisor, internal affairs investigator, professional standards supervisor, field training program manager, accreditation manager and assessor.   He has also obtained over twenty instructor certifications through his law enforcement career and currently serves as an adjunct instructor at a Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy.

More recently, he has been with the Red Bank Police Department since 2011 and has been serving as the Chief of Police since April of 2019.  He is an active participant with the Tennessee Association of Chief’s of Police serving as the Chairperson for the Training Committee and serving on the Professional Standards Committee.  Chief Seymour is a graduate from the prestigious ten-week program, Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.
