Brent is a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and a 1989 graduate of Red Bank High School. Brent started his fire service career as an Explorer in 1987, while in high school. He joined the fire department on a part-time basis while working on his EMT certification at Chattanooga State. After graduation from Red Bank High School and Chattanooga State, Brent took a full-time position with the Chattanooga Fire Department EMS division and later with Hamilton County EMS, then with the Red Bank Fire Department where he has spent his entire career of 34 years.

Brent has received and maintained multiple state certifications to enhance his career: Journeyman Firefighter, Pumper Driver Operator, Fire Instructor, Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Residential Building Inspector, Residential Plumbing Inspector, and Residential Mechanical Inspector to name a few. Brent continues to attend classes and conferences to stay abreast of the latest trends and technology to promote and maintain life safety for the citizens of Red Bank.

Besides being a full-time firefighter, Brent holds office in multiple fires, civic and fraternal organizations.

Brent and his wife Jennifer enjoy traveling and with every opportunity are either camping, cruising, or motorcycling.

Brent became Fire Chief on June 7th, 2021 after climbing the ranks under the 32-year leadership of retired Chief, Mark Mathews.
