Specialized/Technical Enforcement Program
The Red Bank Specialized / Technical Enforcement Program is under the command of the Uniformed Services Supervisor. The Program is responsible for a wide variety of tasks within the community. One responsibility is handling investigations that are more in depth than those which would be conducted by a uniform officer. The means by which this is accomplished varies, along with the techniques that are employed. Members of the STEP team often coordinate with other agencies and departments in the course of these investigations, and can operate in an undercover or covert status. At times it is feasible to identify the activity and affect an arrest immediately, while in other instances, long investigations are required which may employ the use of confidential informants, undercover officers, and the general cooperation of the community.
Other tasks include special programs which the Red Bank Police Department participates in to promote safety and security among city residents. Such programs may consist of DUI enforcement & education, distracted driving enforcement & education, and other community events such as a safety expo.
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Red Bank community while working to continually provide improved and responsive police services, giving our community a safe and secure environment in which to live. We cannot succeed with this mission without the community's help.
